What does the blacksmith workshop include?
Tour of the Forge
We’ll introduce you to our workshop, the tools, and the techniques that form the foundation of the blacksmith’s craft. You’ll learn about safety procedures, how to handle the equipment and tools, and we’ll explain the technological processes — first in theory, then demonstrated in practice. You’ll gain the essential knowledge to get started.
Hands-on Blacksmithing
You’ll learn the basics of working with a forge and master the techniques needed to create a knife — from design to the final touches. You’ll experience the heat of the fire, learn to control the forge, and handle the hammer. Once you feel the steel taking shape under your hands, you’ll begin forging your own knife.
Damascus Steel
For more advanced participants, we offer the option to craft a knife from Damascus steel — a material renowned for its durability and distinctive pattern. If you prefer, you can make your knife from non-welded steel instead. Welding Damascus steel is by no means an easy task, but we’ll guide you through every step and provide help whenever you need it.
Refreshments
We’ll provide hearty refreshments and drinks throughout the day to keep your creativity and energy flowing — because good work deserves good food.
Who is the blacksmith workshop for?
Our blacksmith workshop is open to everyone — from complete beginners to experienced enthusiasts. Regardless of your previous experience, you’ll gain practical skills and take home a knife you’ve forged yourself.
You can join on your own, come with a friend, or bring a group. Fathers and sons are welcome, and the workshop can also serve as a great team-building activity for you and your colleagues. In short — anyone can take part!

How does the course work? Where can you sign up, what’s the price, how does the day unfold, and what will you need?
Workshop Location – Where Does It Take Place?
The course takes place in our fully equipped forge in Mlékojedy near Litoměřice.
You don’t need to worry about bad weather or limited space — we have all the necessary facilities. You won’t be standing outside in the rain, frost, or direct sunlight around a single anvil with a crowd of ten people, as is sometimes the case elsewhere.
Number of Participants
The course is designed for three participants. This allows us to give each person individual attention and ensure smooth progress throughout the workshop. With this small group size, we can easily provide assistance when needed and maintain an optimal workflow in the forge — you won’t have to wait for your turn at the forge or tools.
Need more spots for your group or a company team-building event? Let us know! With prior arrangement, we can expand our team and accommodate a larger number of participants.
What Should You Bring to the Blacksmith Course?
Basic safety gear: gloves, hearing protection (headphones, earmuffs, or earplugs), safety glasses, or a face shield.
Don’t have them? No problem! You can borrow the equipment from us or purchase new gear on-site. Just let us know in advance which option you prefer.
Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and workwear made from non-flammable or natural materials such as cotton. Avoid synthetic fabrics — they burn easily! Also, avoid loose sleeves or trouser legs.
Duration of the Course
The knife-making blacksmith workshop is a full-day experience. We start early in the morning to make sure everything fits into the schedule.
After the introduction, theory, and practice, you’ll move on to forging your knife. The process includes several technological breaks, so the total duration is about 13 hours — starting at 7:30 AM and finishing around 8:30 PM.
Price of the Blacksmith Course
In our advanced workshop variant, we start at 7:30 AM and finish at 8:30 PM.
The maximum group size is 3 participants, which ensures plenty of time for hands-on work and individual guidance from the master blacksmith. There’s no minimum attendance required — sometimes you may even have the forge all to yourself.
If you choose to forge a Damascus steel knife, you’ll work with high-quality steel and, thanks to the extended schedule, we can forge multiple layers of the pattern if desired.
Additionally, bring your favorite kitchen knife — we’ll sharpen it for you free of charge.
Price: 6,900 CZK per participant
Tandem (eg. father & son): +500 CZK for the child (or accompanying adult).
In the tandem option, you’ll forge one knife together.
Due to frequent questions — yes, at this price you will truly forge a Damascus steel knife with a wooden handle, and take it home the same day!
